Maize High’s Alyssa Blase – Student of the Month Presented by Kansas Department of Transportation

Alyssa Blase, Maize HS

Alyssa, a junior at Maize, has been on the S.A.F.E. team at the school for two years. A member of the Eagles’ swim team, Alyssa helps promote S.A.F.E. by participating in activities such as seat-belt surveys, bringing dogs to schools (Alyssa points out that bringing a dog to school can help with depression, and people with depression may not drive as safely because it could be a way out for them), going to conferences and creating posters for the school with S.A.F.E. stats. She also helps run simulations with drunk goggles and what it feels like to be in a car crash. Alyssa also is the president of the DIY club at Maize.
