TEAM PREVIEW

Very few teams posses the type of talent returning at the skill positions as Maize South. At quarterback, Colin Shields (6-1, 190) was a second team all-league selection last season, where he threw for over 1,300 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Joining him in the backfield will be Hunter Niemann (5-11, 170), who was an honorable mention allleague running back. He ran for 856 yards and 11 touchdowns last season.

Finally at receiver is Jake Johnson (6-0, 185), who also was an honorable mention all-league selection last season, where he caught 31 balls for 308 yards and two scores. The Mavericks also return three starters on the offensive line. On defense, there are just four starters returning, but of those is all-state linebacker, Brandon Bowles.
