Remington’s Rodolfo Vargas has no problem making a bold declaration about his track season.
“I have improved so much from the start of the season to now,” Vargas said. “I am happy to say that my last season has been the best one of my high school career.”
Vargas has finished in the top 10 of every meet he competed in this season in both the discus and shot put. He won discus at the Halstead meet to open the season, which was also a personal record. He also set a personal record in the shot put at Remington’s meet. “My best shot put performance was during our Larry Brown Invitational, where I threw an all-time personal best of 42-04 feet,” Vargas said. “My best discus performance was at a Halstead CKTL meet where I threw an all-time personal best of 132-05 feet.”
There was a simple fundamental that Vargas worked on that has led to the improved results.
“One area I have improved in was my form,” Vargas said. “I did a lot of release work and just worked on my form work without a discus or shot put.”
After graduation, Vargas plans to enter the workforce and work in aviation industry.
