Wichita East beat Wichita Northwest 34-28, handing the Grizzlies their first loss. East was attempting the game-winning field goal, but the snap was off and but holder MJ White returned it for the game-winning touchdown as time expired. East is 2-2.
Andale has won 55 straight games after beating Smoky Valley 74-0.
Washburn Rural ended Manhattan’s 16-game winning streak with a 35-28 victory.
Eisenhower improved to 4-0 with a 41-17 win over Andover Central, handing the Jaguars their first loss of the season.
Derby won its third straight game, winning at Hutchinson 27-17 to improve to 3-1. Senior quarterback Braxton Clark had four touchdowns for Derby, running for two in the first quarter. He also threw for two touchdowns, including a 54-yard pass to junior Da’Saahn Brame in the third. Senior running back Derek Hubbard had 97 rushing yards, including a 62-yarder that set up a touchdown.
Salina Central edged Andover 22-21, scoring the game-winning touchdown and two-point conversion with a second remaining. Salina Central is 3-1.
Kapaun rebounded from its first loss of the season to beat Battle, Mo. 48-21.
Maize South beat Newton 42-14, one week after falling to Hutch in its first loss of the season.
Valley Center is 3-1 after beating Campus 42-14.
Cheney is 4-0 after shutting out Pratt 49-0 for its second straight shutout.
Goddard improved to 3-1 with a 45-13 win over Arkansas City.
After opening the season with a loss, Buhler has won three straight after beating Winfield 41-7.
Rose Hill beat Mulvane 35-14 to improve to 2-2. It is Mulvane’s first loss.
Garden Plain is 3-1 after shutting out Chaparral 49-0.
Kingman opened the season with a loss to Cheney but has now won three straight games by a combined score of 119-31 after beating Douglass 44-6.
Hoisington is 4-0 after beating Southwestern Heights 63-6. Hoisington has given up 26 points this season.
SE-Saline improved to 4-0 with a 24-0 win over Halstead, its first shutout of the season. SE-Saline has given up 19 points.
South Sumner is 4-0 following its 52-0 win over Udall.
