A week full of uncertainties once again for the state of Kansas, but one thing that never disappoints is a Friday night under the lights.
Hutchinson was looking to go 4-0 for the first time since 2009, with only 0-3 Newton in the way.
Newton, a team eager to get its first win of the season after playing three of some of the top teams in the area in Maize, Andover Central and Derby.
Newton struck first in the hands of a familiar player in wide reciever Peyton Maxwell.
Once again, Newton put up a fight but wasn’t able to get the win.
Running back Alec McCuan lit up the scoreboard once again as he added four more touchdowns to his already impressive season.
The Salthawks advance to 4-0 after the 54-42 win.
Collegiate continued its winning ways after a 31-10 win over Hesston.
Despite a slow start from Collegiate, its defense was able to hold, allowing sophomore quarterback Wesley Fair and the rest of the offense to get going. Fair rushed for three touchdowns and added one more through the air to his big brother, Micheal.
Maize cruised past Arkansas City 53-8 to move on to 4-0. Running back Josh Sanders had four touchdowns.
In the battle of the undefeateds, Goddard quarterback Kyler Semrad and receiver Jake Shope were slowed down just enough by the defense of Andover Central.
The Jaguars had to grind out the 34-26 win to stay undefeated at 3-0.
Bishop Caroll was able to bounce back after suffering its first loss, 35-21, to Derby on Sept. 18. The Golden Eagles beat Dodge City 51-20. Carroll is 3-1.
