By Blake Chadwick

Derby vs Maize South kicked off the beginning of Friday Night Lights, Week 8.

On the first play of scrimmage Friday night, Derby junior Dylan Edwards kicked off Friday Night Lights with a 80-yard rushing touchdown at Maize South.

But the Edwards touchdown party didn’t stop. The next two times Edwards touched the ball, he found pay dirt both times, giving the Panthers an early 21-0 lead en route to the 52-14 win over Maize South.

You could say the Panther magic ran out a little bit when the Panthers took longer than one play to score, but Edwards got his fourth touchdown of the first quarter seconds later.

He finished with six touchdowns, getting 200 yards on three carries. He had a game-high 276 rushing yards on 11 carries.

Quarterback Mercer Thatcher was 5-of-7 passing for 100 yards.
