WSU Tech hosts Manufacturing Day

Manufacturing Day was held in October to introduce students, parents, and the public what modern manufacturing is all about. Many new and innovative manufacturing technologies bring about whole new careers requiring a skilled workforce interested in pursuing them. From welders, to aviation assembly mechanics to robotics technicians, and all of the operations in between, there is a place for everyone in manufacturing.

Over 120 high school students participated in WSU Tech’s annual event celebrating National Manufacturing Day on Thursday, October 7. The students participated in hands-on activities in a variety of advanced manufacturing focuses including Robotics, Supply Chain and Logistics, Welding, Aviation Sheet Metal and Aviation Paint.

Schools represented included Wichita East, Wichita North, Wichita West, Wichita Heights, Wichita Northwest, Goddard, Eisenhower, South Barber, Lakeside, Andover, Andover Ecademy, Cheney, Augusta, Douglass, The Independent School and Norwich.

“WSU Tech has been a site host for Manufacturing Day since 2013,” Andy McFayden said. “We are thrilled to host an in person event this year for students in our region.”
