Class 6A girls

Derby 44, SMNW 39 2OT — Derby held SMNW scoreless in the second overtime to advance to Friday’s semifinal. Three Derby players scored eight points apiece — Sydney Nilles, Maryn Archer and Heather Mills. Katelyn Kennedy added seven, Addy Brown six.

While Derby shot 15 of 39 from the field (38.5%), the Panthers held SMNW to 12 of 44 (27.3%).

The Panthers struggled with SMNW’s Kennedy Taylor, who had 14 points and 14 rebounds along with two blocked shots. But Brown, a freshman, held her own late defensively and on the boards.

Brown got a key rebound on a missed Derby FT that led to Mills extending the lead at the free-throw line.

Liberal 41, Olathe South 33 — Liberal is the top seed for the second straight year, but this time, Liberal advances to Friday’s semifinals.

Olathe East 49, Wichita Heights 48 — Heights rallied from a 41-36 deficit with 4:20 to go. The Falcons, led by two baskets from Laniah Randle, took a 48-45 lead with 48 seconds to go.

But the Falcons was 0 for 4 from the free-throw line — including the front end of two one-and-ones — in the final 30 seconds.

Heights was led by Randle, who scored 14 of her game-high 22 points, in the first half. She also had six rebounds. Taylor Jameson added 11 points and five steals and Dayjsha had 10 points.  Olathe East was led by Aubrey Rogers’ 18 points.

Topeka 79, Olathe North 55

Class 5A boys

Andover 60, Blue Valley Southwest 59 — Jack Johnson led Andover with 21 points, Harper Jonas had 13 and Isaiah Maikori had 11.

Basehor-Linwood 76, Andover Central 72 — Andover Central, the defending champ, falls in the quarterfinals. Jerome Washington led Andover Central with 30 points and Xavier Bell had 28.

Hays 46, Highland Park 43

Kapaun 49, DeSoto 42 — Will Anciaux and Blake Danitschek each had 16 points for Kapaun.

Friday’s semifinals: Andover (23-0) vs. Kapaun (17-6), 4:45 p.m.; Hays (17-6) vs. Basehor-Linwood (21-2), 8:15.

Class 4A girls

Bishop Miege 60, Chapman 45

Clay Center 47, Eudora 42 — Clay Center is the seventh seed.

KC Piper 63, Baldwin 48

Nickerson 61, Buhler 36 — Nickerson was led by Morgan Stout’s 23 points and eight rebounds. Ava Jones added 10 points and eight rebounds.

Friday’s semifinals: KC Piper (21-2) vs. Clay Center (17-6), 3 p.m.; Nickerson vs. Bishop Miege, 6:30

Class 3A boys

Beloit 51, Nemaha Central 43

Galena 61, Burlington 54

St. Marys 49, Haven 44 — St. Marys knocked off the top seed.

Wichita Collegiate 58, Colby 46 — Collegiate trailed 32-31, but went on a 26-15 run for the win. Gradey Dick had 21 points.

Friday’s semifinals: Beloit (21-3) vs. Collegiate (21-3), 4:45 p.m.; Galena (19-5) vs. St. Marys (14-10), 8:15

Class 2A girls

Garden Plain 54, Sterling 48 — Garden Plain’s Kennedy Horacek had 18 points, while Alli Puetz had 14 rebounds and Brooke Hamond had 10. Sterling was led by Makenna Linden’s 11 points. Kinzie Comley had 9 points for Sterling and 11 rebounds.

Spearville 55, Pittsburg Colgan 41

Valley Heights 51, Wabaunsee 45

WaKeeney 45, Bennington 31

Friday’s semifinals: Garden Plain (19-5) vs. WaKeeney (23-1), 3 p.m.; Valley Heights (22-2) vs. Spearville (24-0), 6:30

South Central 41, Lebo 38

Stockton 38, Berean Academy 33 — Stockton gets the upset over top-seeded Berean Academy, which suffered its first loss.
