Maize South’s Colin Shields – Presented By Advanced Physical Therapy

Maize South standout Colin Shields enters his final season as the starting quarterback, but his enthusiasm is at an all time high.

“The thing I love most about my team and teammates has to be the team culture. We’ve only been a school since 2009 but in that time I believe that we’ve developed one of the best cultures in the area. Every time someone comes into school, practice, weights, the locker room, or steps onto the field on a Friday night they know that we all have each other’s backs and are going to push each other to become better players on the field and better people off of the field,” said Shields.

This season Shields and his teammates have set high expectations for themselves as they look to make another run in the playoffs.

“My personal goal this year is to have a 65% completion percentage or better. This in turn leads to me getting the ball into my receiver’s hands and letting them go make the plays that they’re all capable of making. As a team our goal this year is to get 1 percent better each day and go 1-0 each time we step onto the field on Fridays. If we’re able to improve every day, even by just 1 percent from the start of summer lifting to the end of the season, those days will start to add up and we’ll end up being a really good team with an opportunity to make another run in the 5A state playoffs,” said Shields.

Shields just received his first offer from Wayne State College in Nebraska.
