McPherson’s Katie Berg – Athlete of the Month Presented By Jean Curry Shelter Insurance

The excitement is building at McPherson High School as Katie Berg and the volleyball team continue to improve
and build on a 6-0 start to the season.

The senior is proud of their efforts and how far they have come under difficult circumstances.

“I love how our team has such great chemistry this year. We all have lots of experience on the varsity court and we all have the same goal and mindset that we would do anything to win and get back to the state tournament,” said Berg. “I was so excited when I heard that I would get the opportunity to be able to play my senior year. I knew that this year was going to be special with the level of play and talent that we have in the gym and I am so excited to make my last year as a bullpup the best season possible.”

Setting an example for the younger athletes is one way Berg has shown her ability to be a leader. “I have definitely grown as a leader throughout my time in the program. I think a big part of my leadership is just leading by example and being a reliable and consistent player that my team needs,” said Berg.

Berg has verbally committed to play volleyball for Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York. “I am so excited for the opportunity to experience life in the big city and play volleyball at such a high level!”
