Derby High School senior Gavin Chadwick is ready to lead the Panthers into an exciting season, setting his sights on one thing above all else- winning. As the team’s point guard, Chadwick embraces his role as both a floor general and motivator, driving his teammates to reach their full potential.
“I have a lot of goals for this season, but most of them are team goals,” Chadwick shared with Vype Magazine. “I just want to win. My individual goals are the ones that help the team win.” That selfless mindset has become a defining trait of Chadwick’s game, making him a cornerstone of Derby’s success.
This year, one matchup stands out above the rest for Chadwick. That’s the showdown with Maize South, currently ranked number one in their league. “I’m really looking forward to playing Maize South,” he said, excited to take on the challenge.
During the offseason, Chadwick dedicated himself to refining his offensive skill set. “The thing I worked on most was scoring the ball and shooting,” he said. That focus on becoming a more efficient and confident scorer could give Derby the extra spark the team needs in close games.
Looking beyond high school, Gavin’s passion for basketball continues to drive him. He plans to play college basketball, though he remains undecided on where he’ll take his talents next.
With his leadership, work ethic, and team-first mentality, Gavin Chadwick is determined to make his senior season one to remember, not just for himself, but for the entire Derby community.
