Silas Good, a senior from Caney Valley High School, is making the most of his final season on the wrestling mat. Competing in the 120-pound weight class, Good has emerged as one of the top wrestlers in the state, combining talent, discipline, and leadership both on and off the mat.
This season carries special meaning for Good, as he gets the rare opportunity to wrestle alongside his younger brother, Levi. Throughout the years, Levi has been one of Silas’s biggest supporters and closest friends, and sharing his final high school season with him is something Good values deeply.
Preparation has been key to Good’s success. Over the summer, he attended multiple wrestling camps to sharpen his technique and spent countless miles running to build a strong cardio base. That dedication has paid off. After finishing last season with a 23–10 record and a 3–2 performance at the state tournament, Good has taken another leap forward. This year, he holds a 13–2 record, is currently ranked No. 3 in the state, and has captured several tournament titles.
Individually, Good’s goals include placing in the top four at the state tournament and earning his 100th career high school win. As a team, he expects Caney Valley to win its regional and contend for a top four finish at state.
Beyond wrestling, Good is a well-rounded student-athlete. He runs cross country and track, helped his cross country team place fifth at state, serves as his school’s FFA chapter secretary, is a member of NHS, and plays in the praise band at his church. After graduation, he plans to attend Oklahoma State University to study mechanical and aerospace engineering, with hopes of wrestling at the collegiate level.
