Looking to wrestle at a new weight for her senior year, Northwest’s Lily Land is beyond excited for this upcoming season.
Northwest’s head coach Tevin Kendall has the utmost faith in Land for her senior year.
“Lily has been a four-year starter for our program at 145 for three years and looking to go a new weight this year as a senior 140. She is a fierce competitor and the fire starter leader for this program. She is a two-time state qualifier falling just short both years sophomore and junior in the blood round. Looking to make a statement this senior season and end her career on the podium! She has a chance to eclipse the 100 win mark this season,” Kendall said.
Land spent a lot of her offseason in different camps, as well as trying to keep her mind and body healthy.
“This year I am hoping to improve my mental and confidence. During the off season I have tried to have a better understanding of the sport and the work I’ve put into it, trying to be more positive,” Land said.
Land’s motivation for her senior year is to give it her all and to not play it safe.
“I’ve played a large role in the Northwest women’s wrestling team as I was thrown into the sport head on as a beginner and now as the leader of the team. My motivation for this season is to take the next step and show off the work I’ve put in by placing at state,” Land said.
