Ark City’s Jordy Pierce is excited to start his senior season, and after four years of hard work and dedication, he’s ready for week one.
“I am preparing for the season by working out everyday, getting a closer bond with coaches and teammates, to go into game one with full confidence,” Pierce said.
While his junior season holds some of his best stats, Pierce is hoping to better himself, and also bring home a state title.
“Some goals for the season are trying to throw for 2500 yards and run for 500 yards, with 20 or more touchdowns and of course, to win a state championship,” Pierce said. “I’m most excited about just getting back on the field under the Friday night lights with the great crowds.”
One of Pierce’s favorite games of the season takes place against Ark City’s rival, and one that brings a lot of attention to Cowley County.
“We’re excited to take on our rivals, Winfield,” Pierce said. “It’s always a battle and great for Cowley County to watch the Cowley Cup.”
Starting all four years for Ark City has paid off for Pierce in more ways than one.
“One of the most memorable moments was when I was a freshman and threw a touchdown to my older brother who was a senior,” Pierce said.
Pierce has aspirations to play football or baseball at the next level, but is still undecided as to where.
