Augusta’s Brecken Albert – Receiver Poll Winner – Presented by Hutchinson Community College

Brecken Albert was one of Augusta’s key weapons on offense last season, and he plans to make just as much of a difference this season as he did last, and that includes stepping up in a leadership role.

“Me and the team have been preparing for the season by putting ourselves against high competition during camps and seven on seven,” Albert said. “A main problem from the past that the team is focusing on getting rid of is playing for yourself. We all know that if we play together, there’s not a lot of people that can stop us. Personally, I have been making sure I’m keeping people accountable as a leader, but also making sure I do the right things as well.”

A tough and competitive game gets Augusta going every year, and revenge is on Albert’s mind heading into the season.

“I am excited to take on Circle this year,” Albert said. “Last year we were at their place and we let a lot of things go. This year we’ll be at home for senior night and are looking forward to showcasing what we can do to a team in our league.”

One of Albert’s favorite moments on the field happened not too long ago, and it’s one that keeps Albert bettering himself each and every season.

“My most memorable moment playing  football happened my junior year,” Albert said. “It was a tight playoff game against Mulvane and I was thrown a jump ball and I one handed it then ran for a few more yards after.”

After high school, Albert has hopes to continue getting to play the sport he loves at the next level.

“My future plans consist of playing at the next level,” Albert said. “It has always been a goal of mine, and the work I’ve put in has gotten me to the point where I will be able to. I’m not sure where I’ll end up, but that’s definitely my main goal as of right now.”
