Campus’ Kenton Holmes – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Haysville School District

Looking to continue his career in diving after high school, senior Kenton Holmes spent his offseason getting continuously better.

“I went to the Air Force Academy for a week long dive camp in June, in which I was taught by current and former D1 divers as well as one on one coaching by the head dive coach at the Air Force Academy. I also attended twice a month practices at Campus high during the summer from June all the way up until October,” Holmes said.

Last season Holmes finished fourth place at the 6A championship, broke the school record in 11 dives (477.65) and became the highest placing state diver in Campus history.

Colts’ head coach Steven Crum attributes Holmes’ success to his hustle.

“I have been coaching diving for more than 30 years, and without a doubt, Kenton is the hardest-working diver I have ever seen. This is just his 3rd year diving, and he has improved every year. Not only does he improve his technique and form, but he also expands the dives he does, increasing his degree of difficulty, which in turn helps raise his scores. He takes being a student-athlete very seriously and excels in the classroom as well,” Crum said.

Holmes also has big plans for this next year.

“My two main individual goals that I have for this upcoming season is to break the 6 dive school record and to win state,” Holmes said.
