Clearwater senior sprinter Callie Noland has built her career on becoming one of the most relentless sprinters in the state.
Competing in the 100 meters, 200 meters and 4×100 relay, Noland’s explosiveness out of the blocks immediately sets her apart. That early edge, combined with years of experience, has allowed her to consistently compete at a high level.
“Getting faster as the season progresses and finishing at the top of the podium are always my goals,” Noland said. “Personally, I’d like to improve my 100-meter record and break my school’s 200-meter record this year.”
“Kansas has some elite sprinters, and I am honored to be included in those conversations,” she said. “It pushes me to stay focused and work hard every day.”
That mindset has been shaped through adversity as much as success. During her freshman year, Noland suffered a knee injury during basketball season that led to multiple dislocations and eventually three surgeries. Despite the setbacks, she qualified for the state meet every year.
“It’s definitely been a mental and physical battle to stay competitive,” Noland said. “It’s taught me a lot about mental toughness, patience and how to take care of my body.”
Now her focus includes not just performance but also staying healthy through proper nutrition, hydration and recovery.
Clearwater head coach Jeff Cornwell has seen that growth firsthand.
“I can best describe Callie as a perfectionist,” Cornwell said. “She is rarely satisfied with her performances because she believes there is always something she could have done better. This motivation has continued to be a driving force in her consistent improvement.”
