As a senior at Emporia High School, Yzabel Ultreras has carved out her place both on and off the softball field. A dedicated athlete, she proudly represents her school as a third baseman and left fielder, known not only for her talent but also for her unwavering work ethic and determination.

Softball isn’t just a sport for Ultreras, but it’s a source of personal growth. “What motivates me is that I want to become better for myself every day,” she shared with Vype Magazine. That internal drive has pushed her to improve continuously, even on tough days. “Even when I don’t play good, I still try to give it my all,” she adds, showing a level of maturity and resilience that sets her apart.

Her greatest role model is her mom. “She’s always been there for me and supports me through everything,” Ultreras shared. That steady support at home has laid the foundation for her success on the field and in life.

The highlight of her high school career hasn’t just been about big plays or wins; it’s the deep connections she’s formed with her teammates. Being able to create friendships, not only within softball but also outside of softball, with her high school team, is what she values most.

Beyond the diamond, Ultreras is actively involved in Latinos Unidos and STUCO, showing her commitment to leadership and community. After graduation, she plans to attend Emporia State University to pursue a degree in nursing. This is another example of her drive to make a difference.

For Ultreras, wearing the Emporia jersey means more than just playing a game. It means being a positive player and demonstrating good sportsmanship while on and off the field. As her high school journey comes to a close, Yzabel Ultreras leaves behind a legacy of heart, hustle, and humility, a true role model for the next generation.
