At F.L. Schlagle High School, senior volleyball standout Kenadee Anderson has become known for much more than her athletic ability. “The number one thing I love most is being known in my school as a good person,” Anderson said. “I’m looked at as a strong leader as I not only succeed in volleyball, but I also keep my grades up.” That balance between academic success and athletic dedication has earned her respect from both teammates and teachers alike.
Her passion for volleyball began early. “I’ve played volleyball since I was seven, on and off in recreational clubs and middle/high school volleyball,” Anderson said. Now entering her senior season, she’s a seasoned competitor ready to lead her team with confidence and composure.
Growth has been a major theme in her journey. “I could confidently say my mindset and defensive skills,” she said when asked what’s improved most this year. “I’ve always struggled with keeping a good attitude after multiple mistakes, but I’ve gotten better about my mindset this year. I play all around, which helps me increase my skills with defense.”
Anderson’s playing style reflects her commitment to pushing herself. “I prefer a jump serve even though I just learned how to do it,” she said. “My jump serve makes the serve more powerful, making it harder for opponents to receive it.”
Her admiration for her teammates also shines through. “Even though we only have two setters, Heromy Jimenez is the best I’ve seen,” Anderson said. “Her backsets are beautiful, and she always trusts me to get the ball over.”
Off the court, Anderson balances her competitive spirit with creativity and family time. “In my free time, I like to spend time with my family, watch new series such as SWAT or SVU, and make beaded bracelets to sell or as gifts,” she said.
Looking to the future, Anderson already has her goals set. “After I graduate from high school, I would like to go to a four-year college to play volleyball or go to an HBCU and try out for their majorette-style dance team,” she said. “I will be pursuing a career in law, majoring in a Pre-Law major, such as political science.”
With her determination, leadership, and drive, Kenadee Anderson embodies what it means to be a student-athlete — strong in spirit, focused in the classroom, and fearless on the court.
