Derby beat Wichita East 63-28 to advance to the Class 6A semifinals against Manhattan and improve to 11-0. Derby took a 21-0 lead and then scored 21 more unanswered points for a 42-14 lead at the half.
Sophomore running back Arieus Finley scored Derby’s first two touchdowns on runs of 27 and 25 yards. He finished with 188 rushing yards on 21 carries for four touchdowns. Senior quarterback Drew Kemp threw for 22 yards and three touchdowns, including two to Da’Saahn Brame and a 70-yarder to John Lujan.
Easton Splane added an INT and a touchdown for the Derby defense, which gave up its most points on the season.
Manhattan ended Wichita Northwest’s season with a 49-28 win, its second victory over the Grizzlies this season. Northwest finishes at 9-2.
Eisenhower advanced to the Class 5A semifinals with a 44-14 win over Topeka Seaman and will play Hays. Eisenhower is 9-2.
Hays ended Hutchinson’s season with a 28-0 win. Hutchinson is 8-3.
Andover Central beat Wellington 58-13 to advance to the Class 4A semifinals against Buhler. The Jaguars are 10-1.
Buhler handled Wamego 28-14 to improve to 9-2.
Andale raced to a 36-0 lead in its 52-14 win over Cheney to advance to the Class 3A semifinals with an unbeaten record. Andale will play Holcomb, a 10-7 winner over Scott City, in the semifinals.
The Indians, who have an 81-game home winning streak, exacted some revenge in the process — Cheney beat Andale twice in 2023.
Sam Harp had 18 carries for 237 yards and three touchdowns, while Landon Harp went for 82 yards and two touchdowns, and Cooper Marx and Jack Horsch each scored.
Beloit beat Garden Plain 19-0 and will face SE-Saline in the 2A semifinals. Garden Plain finishes its season at 8-3 while Beloit is 9-2.
SE-Saline (11-0) got a 30-8 win over Hoisington.
Conway Springs kept its undefeated season going with a 35-6 win over visiting Plainville to advance to the Class 1A semifinals against Valley Heights.
Isaac Winter had 19 carries for 187 yards — including an 89-yard gain — and two touchdowns. Grant Fisher added two touchdowns, and Levi Mies had another.
Valley Heights beat Medicine Lodge 37-22.
