Levi Brownell, a junior at Goddard High School, has emerged as the standout runner for Goddard’s cross country team, and he’s just getting started. With a personal best time of 18:01 set at the league meet this season, Brownell is on a mission to qualify for the state meet and continue pushing his limits on the course.

“This year, my individual goal is to make it to state,” Brownell said. “As a team, I want to see us grow stronger physically and as a team.” His sights are set on regionals in Great Bend, a course he’s excited to return to and sees as his best shot at earning a trip to the state meet.

Brownell’s growth hasn’t come by accident. Over the summer, he dedicated time to building his core and upper body strength to run more efficiently. “I wanted to run not just with my legs, but with my whole body,” he explained. A strategy that’s already paid off in races this fall.

Beyond cross country, Brownell’s schedule is packed with activities that showcase his well-rounded nature. He’s involved in band, choir, Tri-M, NHS, church choir, church orchestra, and he serves in student leadership for his youth group.

Looking ahead, Brownell plans to attend Kansas State University to study mechanical engineering, with dreams of working for Cessna and eventually becoming a pilot.

Whether it’s on the course, in the classroom, or in the community, Levi Brownell brings drive, discipline, and a passion for growth, making him a leader not only for Goddard cross country but for his future as well.
