Hutchinson Trinity’s Isaac Hammersmith – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Claudia Segoviano Shelter Insurance

By Matt Browning

The Hutchinson Trinity Celtics have just one loss on the season, to a ranked Inman team, but senior Isaac Hammersmith is pleased with how his team has played.

“I think that every game we are improving on both sides of the ball,” Hammersmith said. “The last game, we were especially clean on offense, scoring 46 points.”

Already in district play, Hammersmith likes the direction the Celtics are heading towards.

“It is tough to start out with a loss, but I feel good going into district play following two straight wins,” Hammersmith said. “We just need to stay focused and take things one week at a time.”

Hammersmith has received all kinds of accolades over his time with Trinity, but he has one individual honor he wants to achieve.”

“This year my goal is to be first team all-state,” Hammersmith said. “I have come close to the first team the last two years, getting honorable mention. I feel like if I continue to do what I know I can do then I will accomplish my goal.”

Crushing defeats have ended the Celtics’ past two seasons and Hammersmith is determined to make sure this one doesn’t end the same way.

“This year I really want to get past the second round of playoffs after losing two heartbreakers in that round the last two years,” Hammersmith said.
