As a senior, Brody Epke is ready to make his final high school baseball season one to remember. A standout outfielder and left-handed pitcher for Maize South High School, Epke is focused on finishing his high school career on a high note, especially with the opportunity to compete alongside his closest friends one last time.
Epke has spent the offseason putting in the work to elevate his game. Countless hours in the weight room and dedicated time fine-tuning his hitting and pitching mechanics have been central to his preparation. One of his biggest goals is to develop into a high-power hitter. By adding strength and muscle, he aims to become a more dominant presence at the plate while continuing to excel on the mound.
Individually, Epke has his sights set high. He hopes to lead Maize South in both hitting and pitching statistics and push for 5A Kansas Player of the Year honors. Team goals are just as ambitious for Epke; he wants to make it to Eck Stadium and compete for a state title. With a strong returning core and high expectations, Epke believes the team has what it takes to make a deep postseason run.
Last season, Epke earned First Team All-Conference honors as an outfielder and was named Honorable Mention All-State, solidifying his reputation as one of the area’s top players.
Outside of baseball, Epke enjoys spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. After graduation, he plans to continue his academic and athletic career at the University of Nebraska Omaha, where he will play Division I baseball while majoring in Construction Engineering.
