Lizzy Lassley, a senior at Maize South High School, is gearing up for an exciting final season of softball. As a versatile player, she plays both catcher and utility positions. With a passion for the game, Lassley has set both individual and team goals for this season. For personal goals, she aims to bat above .500 and lead her team in stolen bases. For the team, Lassley’s focus is on reaching the state championship game while maintaining an undefeated record.
One of the games Lassley is particularly looking forward to is a matchup against Bishop Carroll, where she hopes to lead her team to victory. As a senior, Lassley is excited about stepping into a leadership role and supporting teammates in their pursuit of league success.
Over the offseason, Lassley dedicated herself to refining her skills. She focused on improving her batting approach, enhancing her hand-eye coordination, and working on her throw-down time from home to second base. Her hard work will hopefully pay off as she enters the season with a sense of confidence and determination.
Reflecting on past achievements, Lassley is proud of consistently batting above .400 throughout her high school career. She was named 1st Team All-League Catcher and earned Honorable Mention Catcher honors at the state level. These accolades are a testament to her dedication to softball.
Looking ahead, Lassley plans to attend Butler County Community College to continue playing softball although she is still undecided about her career path. Outside of softball, Lassley has also been an active member of the Maize South basketball team and plays for the 18u Stars fastpitch travel team during the summer.
