Cavin Rundell, a junior at Northwest High School, is making a name for himself as a key player on the baseball team. Primarily a catcher, Rundell also plays all around the infield, showcasing his versatility and commitment to the game. With the new season underway, Rundell has set clear goals for both him and the team. His individual goal is to earn First Team All-City honors, while his team goal is to help lead the team to a league title and ultimately a spot at state.
Reflecting on the past season, Rundell is particularly eager to face off against Wichita Heights again. After losing to them in last year’s regional championship, Rundell is focused on getting another shot at them, but above all, he’s excited to return to the field with his teammates and build on their collective efforts.
During the offseason, Rundell dedicated himself to improving his game by focusing on speed and increasing his power at the plate. He’s eager to take his skills to the next level and elevate his performance this season. Last year, Rundell finished with a solid .371 batting average as a sophomore, but he’s determined to raise that number even higher this year.
Looking ahead, Rundell plans to continue his baseball career at the collegiate level, with hopes of further developing his skills. Outside of baseball, he also participates in hockey, playing in the fall and winter seasons. Recently, his hockey team took second place in their league finals, showcasing his all-around athletic ability.
