The accomplishments that Pittsburg (Kan.) High School junior Jamarcus Davis is most proud of is getting his first varsity start for both the Purple Dragon football and basketball teams.
Playing both sports has taught Davis the value of playing with others.
“That’s my teammates,” he said. “They are more than just teammates, they’re like brothers.”
Landyn Jessee is the teammate whom Davis is inspired by.
“We met through basketball, and now he is like a brother to me,” Davis said.
Davis said the best advice he has ever been given came from his football coach, Josh Lattimer.
Coach Latt (Lattimer) told me that I could do anything if I work hard and put my mind to it,” Davis said.
When the two-sport star puts his uniform on, whether it’s football or basketball, “My favorite part about representing my school is proving people wrong because they’re are a bunch of people that doubt the Dragons,” Davis said.
Davis’ favorite teacher is “Ms. Groff. She has had an impact on me since my freshman year,” he said.
And there are people in his family who are special to him.
“My grandpa inspires me because he just means everything to me and does so much for me,” Davis said.
“I want to shout out my coaches, especially Bill Jessee and my family, and the man above, God.”
