Republic County’s Avery Stindt – Softball Poll Winner – Presented by Advanced Physical Therapy

When most baseball or softball players work on their hitting in the offseason, the focus is on adding power or cutting down on strikeouts.

For Republic County’s Avery Stindt, she wanted to improve on something else at the plate.

“I am wanting to improve on my bunting and my hitting placement in the field,” Stindt said. “This offseason I have worked a lot on squeeze bunts to help perfect how to lay the ball down for a good bunt. Being able to know where to place the bunt is crucial in order to move runners around to help better our offensive chances.”

Last season, Stindt was a first team all-league selection where she hit .500 with 22 RBIs and 40 stolen bases, but she feels like she can improve on those already impressive offensive numbers.

“There is only so much you can do on base but I think taking more risks to help create mistakes from the other team,” Stindt said. “That is something I can strive to do to help create better situations for my team.”

Stindt played softball essentially all year long in order to get ready for the spring season.

“We do loads of hitting practices and scrimmaging to get the real-game experiences,” Stindt said. “I also have attended some softball camps and worked with some college athletes on perfecting the basics and speeding up
my swing.”
