Salina Central senior Lexie Guerrero embodies everything a coach looks for in a leader. As the Mustangs’ returning point guard, Guerrero enters her final season ready to guide her team with composure and confidence.

Basketball has been part of Guerrero’s life since kindergarten, and over the years, she’s grown from a young competitor into a natural leader. After moving to Salina her junior year, she quickly made an impression at Central — earning honorable mention all-league honors last season.

“My personal goal for this year is to finish my senior year strong and leave with no regrets,” Guerrero said. “For my team, I want us to build better chemistry and play strong all the way through games while leaving it all on the court.”

Salina Central head coach Paige Talbott praised Guerrero for her leadership, basketball IQ, and consistency both on and off the court.

“Lexie is the kind of athlete that elevates any program and team to the next level,” Talbott said. “Her point guard mentality and determination to succeed and lead others to success helps drive the team. As a senior leader and point guard, she’s the floor general who keeps everyone organized while bringing a calm, confident presence to the floor.”

Talbott said what truly makes Guerrero special is her creativity and selflessness.

“What makes her special is her ability to create,” Talbott said. “She’s not just a talented player — she makes the people around her better. Her passion for the game has had a huge impact on our program, and I know she will continue to leave her mark. Lexie is a fierce competitor who will never shy away from any competition. She holds herself to a high standard and is looking to accomplish big goals for her senior season.”
