Salina Sacred Heart’s Brian Gormley – Coach of the Month – Presented by Salina Regional Orthopedic Clinic

Finishing last season with a record of 20-1 and becoming league champs with a record of 9-0, Salina Sacred Heart hopes to have another successful season.

The Knights return two players who received all-state recognition last year, Will Tuttle who earned second team 2A and Maddox Wells who earned honorable mention 2A; both were also first-team all-NCAA selections. Noah Hines was also a first-team All-NCAA selection. Dom Matteucci was an honorable mention NCAA league selection last season

Returning a good amount of talent this season, head coach Brian Gormley hopes his coaching style will help the Knights achieve another winning season.

“I want to fit what we do to the strengths of our players. This season, we have a lot of playmakers, so we want to create opportunities for them to attack the opposing defense. Defensively, we will play primarily man-to-man with varying pressures,” Gormley said.

Even though last season the Knights went 9-0 in league play, Gormley is preparing them to

face a more competitive league this season.

“With the amount of returning experience we have; we should be a solid team. The biggest adversity will be the number of quality opponents we will face, and our league is even more competitive this season,” Gormley said.
