Shawnee Heights senior quarterback Aiden Scott is no stranger to big moments, and he has the numbers to prove it. After a breakout junior year, Scott shattered nine school records and nine league records, an accomplishment he calls “an honor” considering how long many of the records had stood. Now he is heading into his senior season, and he has his sights set even higher. “I would love to throw for 4,000 yards and 40 touchdowns,” Scott said. As for Scott’s team goal, “I want the team to make it to regionals.”
With big matchups against De Soto and Seaman circled on the calendar, Scott has been putting in serious work to make sure he is ready to face these teams. He attended camps over the summer and spent time training with quarterback coach Justin Hoover. With all this extra practice, Scott and the team are ready to face tough competition.
Scott has set lofty goals this year, but given his track record and work ethic, they’re far from unrealistic. Scott’s leadership extends beyond the football field. He can also be found on the basketball court in the winter and baseball field during the spring for Shawnee Heights and is a member of the school’s Spirit Club.
After graduation, Scott plans to continue his academic and athletic career at Washburn University, where he’ll have the chance to compete at the next level while staying close to home.
With a powerful arm, high football IQ, and relentless drive, Aiden Scott is poised to make his final high school season one to remember, both for himself and for the Thunderbirds.
