Topeka Seaman’s Kaden McKinney is a senior ready to face any challenge that comes his way. McKinney lines up at running back and wide receiver, but is a very versatile athlete.
Last season, McKinney racked up an impressive 1,288 all-purpose yards, earning second-team all-conference honors in a league stacked with talent. “I want to be the most dynamic player I can be and provide for my team in more than just one way,” McKinney said.
But for McKinney, personal stats are secondary. “A big goal and the most important one is winning a state championship,” he said. “As a team, we want to leave everything on the field with no regrets about our effort and energy.” His personal goals this season are centered around leadership, teamwork, and making every rep count. “I want to be the best possible teammate,” he shared with Vype Magazine.
McKinney’s offseason was focused on explosiveness and strength. He spent countless hours working on fast-twitch muscle development and reaction time, along with strength training in the weight room, all with the goal of becoming even more of a threat on the field.
Currently, McKinney is working through an injury, but he’s eager to return and help lead the Vikings to victory. He’s especially looking forward to rivalry games, including the always-intense matchup with Shawnee Heights. “It just brings a little more excitement,” he said.
Off the field, McKinney plays basketball and plans to continue his football career in college, with aspirations to major in Journalism or Business Marketing. With a team-first mindset, elite athleticism, and big-picture goals, Kaden McKinney is a name to watch, now and in the future.
