Wichita Southeast junior Kiasia Allen is stepping into the new basketball season with confidence, focus, and determination. As a versatile point guard and combo 2-3 guard, Allen is ready to elevate her game and help lead the team to a stronger year.

“This season, I want to focus more on attacking and going up at the rim,” Allen said. “I want to average between 10–15 points. Last year I felt more nervous and tempted, but this year I’m coming harder than ever,” she added.

Her goals go beyond personal growth because Allen has big expectations for her team as well. “I’m looking forward to having a better record this year, winning most of our games, and moving closer to state,” she said. “I also hope we beat East and South this year.”

Allen spent her offseason sharpening her skills and conditioning for a strong start. “I’ve been working on my balance and taking away my negative steps,” she explained. “I’ve also been fixing the curve on my shot.” Allen is prepared for the season and is ready to start the season already in basketball shape.

One of her proudest moments from last year came in the first game against East, where she put on an impressive performance. “I felt like a dawg that day. I was killing,” Allen said. “I think I had about 11–13 points and a few assists. That game made me feel like a whole new player.”

Off the court, Allen stays just as active. In addition to basketball, she participates in cheerleading and soccer at Wichita Southeast. Looking ahead, she hopes to play college basketball and is exploring career paths such as law, medicine, or real estate.
