Andale’s Fairchild to compete in Olympic Trials

One of the state’s best track and field athletes, Katelyn Fairchild from Andale, will be competing in javelin throw at the Olympic Trials Friday in Eugene, Oregon.

Fairchild, who will be throwing at Texas A&M in the fall, recently won the 4A javelin, shot put and discus state championships. Her javelin throw of 170 feet is a state record.

Fairchild is the first girls track and field athlete to compete in the Olympic Trials since Kendra Wecker from Marysville did so in 2000.
