Bryce Cohoon, Maize – Wichita Large School Postseason Football Player of the Year (Presented by Hutchinson Community College)

Bryce Cohoon of Maize was voted the Wichita Large School Postseason Player of the Year. Cohoon hauled in 37 receptions for 844 yards and eight touchdowns for the Eagles, who were the Class 5A runner-up. He was chosen first team all-league and has named all-state by a variety of media outlets.

“It is definitely an honor to be selected,” Cohoon said. “The voting poll was full of crazy athletes, so it’s a blessing for sure.”

While Maize had the ultimate goal of winning the 5A championship after coming up short last season, Cohoon still looks at the Eagles’ season as a successful one. They won their league and were undefeated up to the title game.

“I don’t think one particular moment stood out to me, but instead I think every win was memorable,” Cohoon said. “We did everything we could and managed to come out on top for 12 straight weeks.”

Up next for Cohoon is Syracuse, where he committed before the season.

“Syracuse stood out to me because of the coaches and the way they run things up there,” Cohoon said. “In the short amount of time they’ve been there, I feel like they’ve changed the culture and style of play, which led them and myself to think I’d be a perfect fit for the team.”
