Fan’s Choice! Wichita Large School Girls Basketball Player of the Year (Presented by Advanced Physical Therapy)

Southeast’s Ma’Khiyah Jones knows a lot about hard work, being chosen as a first team all league player and averaging ten points per game this year. To add on to her successes, Jones was voted as the Wichita Large School Postseason Girls Basketball Player of the Year.

The Southeast girls basketball team had a winning season, and with the highs and lows of the year, Jones’ favorite memory was during the postseason run.

“The most memorable moment this season was when the team won substate,” Jones said.

Even with the season being over, Jones still looks back on areas she could have improved on.

“Around the rim I feel like I could have had more rebounds than what I did,” Jones said.

With hopes of a long postseason run, Jones and the Buffaloes had big aspirations for a state appearance and they accomplished just that.

“A main goal we focused on as a team was making it to state,” Jones said.

While still undecided on where, Jones hopes to continue her academic career after high school.

“I don’t have a college in mind yet but I would like to go,” Jones said. “I want to be a social worker.”
