Friday’s high school basketball scores, stats, recaps (Jan. 12)

Boys

Andover 72, Salina South 37 — Blake Rucker had 22 points, Josh Kim 21 in Andover’s win. Humphrey led Salina South with 13.

Andover Central 64, Arkansas City 51 — Jayden Brown and Brandt Stupka each scored 12 and Brody DeGarmo and Jace Jefferson each had 11 in Andover Central’s win. Jace Adler had seven rebounds. DeGarmo and Jaden Newfarmer each had four assists. Arkansas City was led by Jordey Pierce’s 14 and teammates Kamari Jennings and Lee Abrams each had 12. Pierce also had nine rebounds.

Augusta 60, Winfield 31 — Gavin Kiser scored 17 for Augusta, Logan Ruddle had 14, Albert 11 and Martin 10 in the win. Christian Moree had 13 points for Winfield.

Burlington 60, Eureka 26

Conway Springs 46, Independent 43

Derby 81, Wichita Southeast 66 — Derby took a 47-29 lead into half, but Wichita Southeast used a 16-4 run — that included an 11-0 run — to get within 51-45 with 2:54 to go in the third. But Derby’s Dallas Metzger hit 3 of 4 from three to retake the double-digit lead it didn’t lose. Metzger finished with a game-high 42 points, hitting 12 of 12 from the line and and six three-pointers. Kaden Franklin had nine rebounds and eight points, Jack Ulwelling 10 points. DJ Brown scored 14 and had nine rebounds for Southeast.

Haven 70, Nickerson 35

Hoisington 58, Halstead 37

Hutchinson 71, Great Bend 61 — Julian Smith scored a game-high 18 points and Jax Heneha had 17 as they combined for seven threes in the win for Hutchinson. Great Bend’s Ian Premer and Maddex Spray had 14 and 13 points.

Hutchinson Central Christian 53, Stafford 38

Kapaun 75, Wichita Northwest 63 — Kapaun had a 19-18 lead late in the first quarter and went on a 20-9 run to take a 39-27 halftime lead. Will Thengvall scored a game-high 18 points for Kapaun, and teammates Corbin Johnson and Teagan Charles each had 13, Blaise Dalian 11 and Brooks Powers 10. Eli Benning led Northwest with 14, Jerome Henderson had 13, Tasean Williams 11 and Darrian Hammond 10.

Maize 75, Newton 41 — Eleven of 14 players scored for Maize, which was led by Charles Sharp’s 13. Davin Hinote and Jalen Batiste each scored 11, and Alan Hanna had 10 in the win. Newton’s Schmidt scored 11, Williams 10.

Oxford 65, Central-Burden 62

Rose Hill 57, El Dorado 48

Salina Central 54, Valley Center 52 — Salina Central was led by Mason Nemechek, Thomas McClendon and Dez Gibson, who each had 11. Newton had 15 points for Valley Center, and Well and Saner finished with 11 apiece.

Wellington 48, Andale 42

West Elk 50, Argonia 35 — West Elk was led by Martin Shipley (17 points), Maddex Moreno (16) and Uriah Tillapaugh (13 rebounds)

Wichita Heights 68, Wichita West 23 — TJ Williams scored 17 to lead Heights, and Teammate Aven M’boule had 14, Amalachi Wilkins 10. Williams also had 11 rebounds and four assists. Wilkins added seven rebounds and Chase Robinson six.

Girls

Andover 59, Salina South 30

Andover Central 48, Arkansas City 24

Augusta 38, Winfield 34 — Ella Bourn scored 21 points, hitting five three-pointers in Augusta’s win.

Bishop Carroll 63, Wichita North 28

Cheney 43, Kingman 30 — Cheney trailed by one at the half, outscoring Kingman 24-12 in the second half.

Circle 37, Buhler 33

Clearwater 40, Wichita Collegiate 15 — Elizabeth Tjaden scored 13 points as Clearwater held Collegiate to six points in three quarters.

Derby 71, Wichita Southeast 23 — Derby led 10-5 in the first quarter and ended the period with a 10-1. Macayla Askew scored 12 and Carsen Carpenter 13 in the win for Derby as 11 players scored.

Eisenhower 28, Goddard 25

Garden Plain 49, Medicine Lodge 47

Great Bend 44, Hutchinson 36 — Mersadie Spray scored 21 in Great Bend’s win. Hutchinson’s Kaia Smith scored 15 and Grace Posch had 14.

Halstead 68, Hoisington 61

Haven 44, Nickerson 35 — Avery Brawner had 15 points, 11 rebounds, Sienna DeFrain 21 points, 10 rebounds in Haven’s win.

Hesston 60, Lyons 15

Hutchinson Central Christian 63, Stafford 21

Independent 58, Conway Springs 35 — Stephie Salamu scored 20 to lead Independent and Kasia Allen had 14. Conway Springs was led by Melissa Ebenkamp, who had 18 points, Haylee Osner (11) and Macie Hartman (10 rebounds).

Kapaun 53, Wichita Northwest 27 — McCoy Phister led Kapaun with 16 and Lizzie Romer 14 in the win. Northwest’s Aubrey Loman scored 11.

McPherson 56, Campus 39

Rose Hill 45, El Dorado 12

Valley Center 34, Salina Central 23

Wellington 60, Andale 47 — Val Norwood hit 11 of 14 free throws and scored a game-high 19 points in the win for Wellington. Teammate Britt Zeka had 15 points. Maddie Lies led Andale with 17 points and Piper Camp had 10.

Wichita Heights 85, Wichita West 8 — SaMiyah Ellis scored a game-high 21 points for Heights.

Thursday’s games

Boys

Conway Springs 47, Douglass 26 — Taylor Wykes led Conway Springs with 14 points and Nash Johnson 13. B. Stiner had 10 for Douglass.

McPherson 63, Augusta 19 — McPherson’s Gabe Pyle scored 18 points, Kyden Thompson had 16 points and three assists as they combined to shoot 16 of 20 from the field.l THompson only missed a three-pointer. Cory Muehler had 12 points and five assists, Owen Pyle had four assists.

Girls

McPherson 54, Augusta 29 — McPherson’s Jaela Thompson scored 17 points and had eight steals, seven rebounds, four assists and three blocks in the win. Teammate Jayla McLeod scored a game-high 18 points.
