Kansas Department of Commerce “NEXTGEN Under 30” – VYPE’S Hunter Ferguson

VYPE Editorial Developer, Hunter Ferguson, has been recognized by the Kansas Department of Commerce as a 2023 NEXTGEN Under 30 winner in the category of Media and PublicRelations.

NEXTGEN Under 30 Kansas recognizes individuals who demonstrate talent, drive, and service to their communities. The NextGen Under 30 mission is to identify and honor extraordinarily talented young adults, to encourage them to follow their lifetime family and career goals in Kansas. NEXTGEN Under 30 celebrates
innovative, creative-thinking, and inspiring young individuals who push the boundaries beyond their years, who are worthy of winning this award.

The NEXTGEN Under 30 is a program developed and facilitated by the Kansas Department of Commerce. Ferguson is a 2019 graduate of Cowley College and began her employment with VYPE Media in 2022. She creates content for the Kansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri VYPE organizations.

“Hunter has proven to be an outstanding hire for VYPE. Her ability to learn new tasks has been inspiring and her commitment to flexibility and change has been essential in the ever changing product portfolio of VYPE media and the media landscape overall,” said Michael Cooper, VYPE Kansas Publisher.

“This award is a huge honor and also a shock if I’m being honest,” Ferguson said. “I’ve never been one to have momentous career aspirations. My motto is just to live life like a sponge. I want to surround myself with talented people and absorb all I can from them.”

“When I was hired on at Cowley in the Marketing Departments Work Study position I had no idea just how pivotal that would prove to be. I had an amazing boss in Abby Morris and in keeping with my motto I soaked in every bit of knowledge I could from her. Enough that even after an almost three year cancer fighting hiatus I was brought back into the fold for Cowley’s website redesign in synchronicity with my hiring at VYPE. There are an infinite combination of words in the English language and yet none of them do justice to the gratitude I have toward Abby and her team for welcoming me, teaching me, and respecting me.”
