Thursday’s high school basketball scores, stats and recaps (Feb. 8)

Boys

Bennington 62, Moundridge 60 — Moundridge overcame a seven-point deficit in the fourth quarter, taking a one-point lead with 5.3 seconds remaining. But Bennington’s Lawson hit a three at the buzzer for the win. Lawson finished with 39 points. Bear Moddelmog cored 19 points, hitting four three-pointers, and Kreighton Kanitz scored 18 points.

Canton-Galva 45, Goessel 38 — N. Collins and W. Collins each scored 16 for Canton-Galva. Goessel’s J. Nickel scored 13 and N. Schrag had 12.

Girls

Derby 52, Hutchinson 45 — Macayla Askew scored 17 points to lead Derby, and teammate Destiny Smith hit three three-pointers for 12 points. Jaden Wilson scored 7 of her 11 points in the final quarter. Grace Posch scored 17 points, including three three-pointers, and Kaia Smith had 13 points for Hutchinson.

Goessel 40, Canton-Galva 34 — Schnelle led Goessel with 15 points. T. Espinoza scored 22 for Canton-Galva.

Haven 55, Hoisington 43 — Haven’s Sienna DeFrain hit 11 of 15 from the field, finishing with a game-high 30 points and six rebounds. Avery Brawner added 13 rebounds.

SE-Saline 56, Republic County 34 — Lexi Jacobson scored 16 points to lead SE-Saline, and Brielle Ptacek had 14. Republic County’s Avery Stindt had 14 points.
