Maize South 61, Derby 54 — Maize South built on its 12-point halftime lead, getting it to 45-29 at the end of the third quarter. Derby mounted a comeback, though, as Kaeson Fisher-Brown scored 17 of his game-high 21 points in the fourth quarter. The Panthers got within 50-44 after eight unanswered points by Fisher-Brown. But Isaiah Atwater started an 8-2 run to get back to a 12-point lead. Atwater and Jaren Askren each scored 14 and Jaylen Maze had 12. Dallas Metzger added 11 for Derby, and Kaden Franklin had five rebounds, three blocks.

Derby 44, Maize South 35 — Maize South took a 25-19 lead on an Ava Howie three with 4:42 to go in the second quarter. Derby responded with a three-pointer from Madison Smith and went on a 14-2 run capped by Kallie Rickords’ basket early in the fourth. Maize South got within 38-33 on Howie’s bucket inside with 2:23 to go, but Derby hit 6 of 6 free throws in the final 1:04. Addy Brown scored 19 and had 10 rebounds, three blocked shots in Derby’s win, and Destiny Smith added four steals. Maize South’s Bella Peters hit 3 of 3 threes in the second quarter when she scored 10 of her team-high 12 points. Amani Lipscomb had 11 points, Avery Lowe 11 rebounds.
