Tonight’s high school football scores, recaps (Sept. 15)

In a battle of 2-0 teams in the City League, the Wichita Northwest Grizzlies edged out Kapaun Mount Carmel with a 42-35 win. 

Kapaun held off the Grizzlies for the majority of the game, but the Grizzlies’ ground game came alive to help propel Northwest to victory. 

The Andale Indians improved their nation-best winning streak with a 73-0 win over El Dorado. Andale earned its first shutout of the season and has scored 212 points.

Derby won its second straight game, beating visiting Bishop Carroll 56-14 to hand the Eagles their second loss. The Panthers’ duo at running back – senior Derek Hubbard and freshman Arieus Finley – combined for five touchdowns.

Derby quarterback Braxton Clark completed 9 of 13 passes for 191 yards and three touchdowns, including two to junior Da’Saahn Brame and another to Hubbard. Finley had 146 rushing yards and three touchdowns, Hubbard 106 yards and two touchdowns.

Eisenhower remains undefeated after beating Valley Center 21-7. 

Hutchinson won its second straight game, beating previously unbeaten Maize South 28-22.. 

Wichita Collegiate dominated once again with a 56-20 win over Wellington to improve to 3-0. Collegiate has scored 151 points. 

Buhler led the whole game and beat Great Bend 20-14. 

Mulvane took care of business once again with a 31-28 win over Augusta giving the Wildcats their best start since the 2012 season. 

Kingman moves to 2-1, halting the Trinity Academy undefeated season with a 35-6 win. 

Newton earned its first win of the season when it handed Maize its second loss in a row with a tough 19-17 win. 

Salina Central bounced back from a Week 2 loss to Eisenhower with a 46-13 over Emporia to improve to 2-1.

After losing two straight to open the season, Wichita East took out some frustration on Wichita Southeast with a 70-0 win. 

Campus got its first win, beating Salina South 35-27.
