Tonight’s high school football scores (Sept. 1)

By Blake Chadwick

With teams raring to go for the last few months, the start of the 2023 season is finally underway, and the road to leaving a legacy is here.

Andale, the nation’s leader with the longest high school football win streak at 51, pushed it to 52 with a 75-28 win over Wellington.

Owen Eck led the way for Andale with 125 rushing yards on 10 attempts and four total touchdowns.

Despite many new faces for the Indians, they are on a quest to win their fifth state championship in a row.

Wichita Northwest took care of business against their rival Bishop Carroll, winning 58-7.

The Grizzlies will take on the Heights Falcons next week to continue league play.

Maize took care of business and sent Topeka packing with a 43-0 win.

Senior defensive back CJ Felder led the defense with two interceptions.

The Salina Central Mustangs kept up their winning ways from a year ago with a 54-28 win over rival Salina South.

Central’s Elijah Wilson had four rushing touchdowns.

Maize South won against Andover on the road.

The Mavericks led 24-21 at halftime and then outscored the Trojans 24-6 for the 48-27 win.
