Tonight’s high school football scores (Sept. 23)

The Maize Eagles won an easy one 56-7 over Salina South tonight.

Kansas State commit Avery Johnson started out with an 11-yard run and that opened up the floodgates. 

Johnson ran for another touchdown and threw for two. Senior running back Daeshaun Carter led Maize’s strong run game with two touchdowns as Maize improved to 4-0.

 

Andale moved to 4-0 with a 57-8 win over Smoky Valley, as 11 players combined to rush for 300 yards. Gage Prosser had a team-high 97 yards on 13 carries, and Wyatt Spexarth completed 6 of 8 passes for 104 yards.

 

Collegiate took care of Clearwater 22-0. The Spartans are now 4-0. 

 

Derby moves to 3-1 on the season after a last-second interception on the goal line by senior linebacker Miles Wash as the Panthers beat Hutchinson 28-21. 

Dylan Edwards contributed with two rushing touchdowns, but the ground game was owned by senior quarterback Brock Zerger, who rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns of his own. 

Elijah Vigil had two interceptions for Derby.

 

Wichita Northwest continued rolling after a 52-14 win over a previously hot East High Blue Aces team. 

LJ Phillilps and Cencere Thompson were the headliners as they were able to get everything they wanted with the ground game. 

Quarterback Jayce Glasper was instrumental early, adding three of his own passing touchdowns, with two to Micheal Lopez in the first half. 

 

Andover Central bounced back after a Week 3 loss to Maize. The Jaguars took care of business against Eisenhower 24-7. 

 

McPherson, which lost to Junction City on Sept. 16, handed Circle its first loss with a 35-15 win. The Bullpups are 3-1. 

Hunter Alvord scored the game’s first points on a 69-yard run in the first quarter and finished with 117 passing yards. Jaytin Gumm had touchdown runs of 3 yards, 59 yards, 14 and 29. Gumm finished with 152 rushing yards, as McPherson held Circle to minus 44 yards rushing.

 

Valley Center beat Campus 38-20 and the Hornets move to 3-1. 

 

Maize South got back on track with a 34-14 win over the Newton Railers. 

 

Chaparral continued its undefeated start with a 10-7 win over Garden Plain. 

 

Kingman moved to 4-0 after a 63-7 win over Douglass. 

 

Wichita Independent is victorious after a 40-34 over Oxford. The Panthers stay undefeated and move to 4-0. 

 

Hutch Trinity is also undefeated after a 24-0 win over Ellinwood. 

 

Conway Springs earned its first win, beating Medicine Lodge 43-13 as Brayden Kunz ran for si touchdowns and 331 yards on 34 carries .
