Wichita West’s Jaleel Montgomery – Featured Athlete Presented by Shocker Track Club

Jaleel has turned into the premier Kansas hurdler. During the state track meet at Wichita State’s Cessna Stadium, Jaleel was one of eight hurdlers in all classes to go under 15 seconds in the nals of the 110-meter hurdles. But his time was a jaw-dropping 14.17 seconds. How good did he have to be to win? That was better than anyone else at state by more than .2 seconds. Jaleel credits the Shocker Track Club with his rise in the hurdles, a journey that began as a curiosity in middle school. “All the training and motivation the coaches give you has built my confidence up,” Jaleel said. Now a senior at West, Jaleel wants to continue to break records and add some gold medals to his collection. He plans to also run the 100, 200 and sprint relay.
