Wichita East’s Talen Nasone – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by David Kauffman M&M Insurance

Wichita East golfer Talen Nasone has always had confidence from tee to green, but once he has a putter in his hands, that confidence has wavered.

That made his offseason focus an easy decision.

“I always struggle putting but since I’ve been grinding in the offseason, putting in the work, I believe it really paid off and I’m doing well,” Nasone said. “I spent more time on the green than I did the range.”

Nasone’s scores last season were consistently in the mid-70s, which made him one of the top golfers in Class 6A, but he knows those scores can still drop.

“My primary focus is to break a majority of my rounds under 70 since I’ve been stuck around there,” Nasone said.

No matter the course or the conditions, Nasone believes his ability to play in a variety of ways is his top strength.

“My strengths are my ability to keep pushing and adapting to new challenges and obstacles on the course,” Nasone said. “I can utilize this to help my team also adapt and change so they can have the highest rate of success.”

A successful season for Nasone could also lead to a strong year for the Blue Aces.

“When I start shooting in the 60s and not see a score in the 80s, which may seem extreme, but it’s a personal goal of mine,” Nasone said. “For my team, I hope to see good scores out there and maybe go to state as a team.”
