Trace Hadsall believes the work put in during the offseason will show once Chaparral takes the field this fall.
The returning standout said the combination of a new coaching staff, summer workouts and high expectations has him eager for the start of the season.
“I’m excited about our new coaching staff and what they bring to the table,” Hadsall said. “I’m most excited to get on the field with my teammates and show teams the work that we have been putting in all summer.”
Hadsall spent the offseason preparing through team workouts and by attending football camps. He said he was a regular participant in morning strength and conditioning sessions with Chaparral’s weight coaches.
“I have attended camps and gone to workouts every morning of the week with our weights coaches,” he said.
One of Hadsall’s primary areas of focus has been improving his speed, something he believes can elevate every aspect of his game.
“The biggest thing for me that I want to improve on this year is my speed,” Hadsall said. “I have been doing speed and agility training with our weights program to get faster.”
After contributing in multiple phases last season, Hadsall has set ambitious goals for his junior campaign. Individually, he hopes to eclipse 1,000 receiving yards while reaching double digits in touchdowns. As a team, he wants Chaparral to put together a memorable season.
“Individual goals I have for this season are to break 1,000 receiving yards and score at least 10 touchdowns,” Hadsall said. “Team goals I have are to go undefeated in the regular season and make a strong playoff run.”
Last season, Hadsall rushed for 211 yards on 49 carries with one touchdown while adding nine receptions for 163 yards and two receiving touchdowns. He finished with 540 all-purpose yards and earned honorable mention All-Central Plains League honors as a punter.
Looking beyond high school, Hadsall hopes to continue his athletic career on the baseball diamond while pursuing a degree related to physical therapy.
“My future plans are to hopefully play baseball at the collegiate level,” Hadsall said. “I want to get a degree in a study that has to do with physical therapy.”
