Douglass’ Carter Green – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Advanced Physical Therapy

After watching his team grow together over the past two seasons, Douglass senior Carter Green believes the hard work is beginning to pay off.

“I’m most excited about how the team has bonded over the last couple seasons and how much work we’ve put in to have a winning season,” Green said.

Green has spent the offseason preparing for his senior year by attending morning weightlifting sessions and football practices while also working his way back to wrestling after missing last season with a torn ACL.

“I have been attending morning weights and practice for football,” Green said. “I’ve been focusing more, over the last couple of months, to get back into wrestling after an ACL year last year.”

On the football field, Green is focused on becoming a more instinctive defender. He said improving his ability to diagnose opposing offenses has been a priority throughout the offseason.

“I am looking to improve my ability to read the offense and where the ball will be going,” Green said. “During practice, I make sure I am able to flow into a gap, and if I can’t, I make sure to ask questions.”

Green has set lofty individual and team goals for his final high school season. Individually, he hopes to rush for 1,500 yards while continuing to lead by example.

“My goals for myself are to rush for 1,500 yards, be a great leader for everyone, and leave the underclassmen on a good note,” Green said. “As for the team, we will have a winning record and win at least one game in the playoffs.”

Green enters the season coming off an impressive junior campaign. He earned a unanimous first-team all-league selection at both running back and linebacker after rushing 105 times for 712 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also added 99 receiving yards and two touchdown receptions.
