Andale’s Brody Winter – Athlete Spotlight

The standard at Andale isn’t simply winning games. It’s finishing the season with a championship trophy.

After helping the Indians win back-to-back state championships, Brody Winter enters his senior season focused on leading a new group of teammates while pursuing another title and a chance to make school history.

“The most exciting thing that I am looking forward to this year is the battle to finish off my high school with a state championship and a 3-peat, all while doing it with a whole new group of teammates,” Winter said.

That pursuit begins long before the first Friday night kickoff.

Winter said he has approached the offseason with the same intensity expected during the playoffs.

“Some things I’ve been doing in the offseason to prepare for the season is showing up to our summer weights and treating it with the same mindset as a playoff game on a Friday in November,” he said.

The offensive lineman has also concentrated on improving an area he viewed as a weakness. Winter said pass protection became a priority after last season, and he credits coach Ryan for helping refine his technique.

“A thing I’ve been working on this offseason is my pass protection,” Winter said. “I felt like that was my weakest point coming in from last year. Coach Ryan helped toward the end of last year by just helping focus on my first step and not get overextended. I’ve just been focusing on that the whole offseason.”

Winter already established himself as one of the area’s top linemen in 2025. He recorded 95 pancake blocks and earned first-team all-state honors, first-team all-league recognition, a spot on the Sports in Kansas Non-Senior Team and second-team Wichita Metro honors.

Now he’s chasing another milestone.

“My individual goal for this season is to reach 100 pancake blocks in a season to be the first person in school history to do so,” Winter said. “A team goal for our team is always be holding up the trophy at the end of the year.”
