Jackson Curry is ready to turn the work he put in during the offseason into production on the field for the Wellington High School football team.
The senior has spent the months leading up to the season preparing himself physically and mentally, while also building chemistry with his teammates. For Curry, the excitement comes from the opportunity to compete alongside his teammates and give the Wellington community something to cheer for.
“I’m most excited about working with my team and showing out for all the fans,” Curry said.
Curry has made preparation a priority throughout the offseason. He has consistently attended team workouts, participated in camps and continued training on his own to improve his game.
“To get ready for the season I’ve been going to every day of workouts, multiple camps, and training on my own about every day,” Curry said.
One of Curry’s biggest areas of focus has been improving his speed and ability to make plays in space. He has worked on becoming a more explosive athlete by focusing on his cuts and acceleration.
“Something I’ve wanted to work on this offseason would be getting my cuts and speed better,” Curry said. “I’ve been training by myself on these things by using cones to cut better or even using a sled to work on my speed.”
Heading into the season, Curry has set individual goals while also keeping the team’s success as the top priority. He hopes his hard work leads to a strong senior campaign and opportunities beyond high school football.
“One of my goals this year is to get 1,000 yards and maybe some offers,” Curry said.
For Wellington, Curry said the goal extends beyond statistics. The Crusaders want to continue growing together and make a deeper postseason run.
“Team goals would be to be better brothers and make it past the third round,” Curry said.
