Landon Hauser has spent the offseason preparing for what he hopes will be a breakout season at Wichita West, and the senior believes both his individual work and his team’s commitment have positioned the Pioneers for success.
Hauser said he’s eager for another opportunity to compete alongside his teammates while also showing college coaches what he can do on the field.
“What I’m most excited about for the upcoming season is playing with my boys and being able to showcase my athleticism to college coaches,” Hauser said. “My teammates have put in just as much work as I have, and I believe we deserve to win.”
Hauser’s offseason featured a combination of skill development, camps and consistent work with his high school teammates. He trained at Sharp Performance Football Academy in Salina while attending camps at Kansas, K-State and the Top Prospect camp circuit. He also worked with former CFL running back Travis Theis and spent nearly every morning training with Wichita West.
The offseason wasn’t just about physical preparation. Hauser focused on improving the mental side of his game, particularly his vision and decision-making as a running back.
“One area I want to improve on this year is my ball-carrier vision and my patience in the backfield,” Hauser said. “Some ways I worked on that during the offseason was getting mental reps through film and finding drills that help me with my patience.”
Hauser has set ambitious statistical goals for his senior campaign. He hopes to eclipse the 1,000-yard rushing mark while finding the end zone at least 15 times. Beyond the numbers, he wants to be a dependable leader and hold himself accountable every week.
“Some goals I have for this season are to rush for 1,000 yards, have at least 15 touchdowns and to hold myself to a high standard,” Hauser said. “A team goal would be winning the majority of our games and coming out of the season a champion.”
