The Blue Valley Northwest boys soccer team is still finding its rhythm early in the 2026 season, but the Huskies have already shown signs of what they can become as the season progresses.
Blue Valley Northwest opened the season with a narrow 2-1 loss to Blue Valley North in overtime Aug. 28. The Huskies then played Manhattan to a scoreless tie Sept. 3 before falling 1-0 to Mill Valley two days later.
The Huskies got into the win column Sept. 10, earning a 2-0 road victory over Raymore-Peculiar. The shutout provided a strong defensive performance and gave Blue Valley Northwest momentum heading into the middle portion of its schedule.
Blue Valley Northwest entered Sept. 17 with a 1-2-1 record. The Huskies most recently faced Blue Valley on Sept. 15.
The schedule does not get easier. Blue Valley Northwest is scheduled to face Bishop Miege on Sept. 19 before continuing Eastern Kansas League play against St. Thomas Aquinas, Blue Valley West, St. James Academy and Blue Valley Southwest.
The Huskies also have nonleague contests against JC Harmon, Maize South and Shawnee Heights remaining on the regular-season schedule.
BV NW has two returning players that made all-league teams last season.
Rogen Andersen was a second team all-league defender last season. Hadley Thompson was an honorable mention all-league midfielder.
With several weeks remaining in the season, Blue Valley Northwest will have opportunities to build on its early defensive performances and continue developing consistency on the attack.
The Huskies’ early results have included three matches decided by one goal or fewer, a sign of how closely contested several of their games have been.
